Effectively Engaging Children with Chronic Illnesses
Schoolwork and interacting with peers is an integral part of normalcy for any child, especially those with a chronic or life-threatening illness. A welcome distraction from the hospital, clinic, treatments or painful procedures, being a part of the school community while coping with a serious illness or condition offers children a routine with a sense of determination and achievement. This webinar will address best practices that will be helpful in effectively navigating the medial, psychosocial and educational needs for this population. Join for your tablet, computer, or phone. Facilitated by Cara Giannillo '89, School Intervention and Re-entry Coordinator, Stony Brook Child Life Program; Research Coordinator, Pediatric Oncology Survivorship Clinic, Department of Pediatrics Division of Pediatric Hematology & Oncology, Stony Brook Children's Hospital.
